Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers help us to realize our vision to provide safe housing for all
victims throughout the District.
Currently DASH needs volunteers to provide administrative and fundraising
support, sort through donations and assist families to move into their
new apartments.
DASH also provides rewarding internship opportunities for university
students looking for experience working in the areas of housing advocacy,
social justice and domestic violence.

Intern Job Description
Program Description: The District Alliance for Safe Housing, Inc. (DASH)
is a newly formed nonprofit agency that works to ensure safe and sustainable
refuge for victims of domestic violence in the District of Columbia through
the development and management of emergency and transitional housing and
supporting other community-based organizations to develop housing for
victims as well.
Report to: Program Director
Responsibilities: Provide support to the development of a newly formed
domestic violence housing program and learn about the inner workings of
a feminist organization. Projects will include, but are not limited to:
- Creating and disseminating outreach materials;
- Assisting with the maintenance of website, specifically, updating
our housing resource center online;
- Attending community meetings and tabling community events;
- Conducting research on affordable housing;
- Assisting with organizing community summits for other domestic violence
service providers;
- Assist with troubleshooting housing inquiry calls/emails;
- Attending weekly staff meetings;
- Other duties as requested.
