Thank you for your interest in volunteering with DASH!

Volunteers play a vital role in furthering the mission of DASH, to provide safe housing to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. At DASH we work to ensure that all programming is based off of the real, expressed needs of our residents. Across the board our main priority is the safety and well being of the individuals and families we serve.

During this time, our volunteer program has shifted to virtual volunteer activities. We continue to welcome new volunteers for ongoing needs.

If you have a specific passion or skill that you would like to utilize in volunteering at DASH, please email Jessy at jmurgel@dashdc.org or call 202-462-3274 ext. 227

Volunteering as an Individual

Mondays: 5:00-8:00pm – September to May

Work one-on-one with a DASH child or resident every Monday night for an hour. Tutors help with language support, GED practice and after school homework. We are not looking for experts, just enthusiastic, committed individuals. All tutors must be able to commit to the full September- May tutoring season. For more information see the Tutor Position Description

Art Group

Tuesdays: 6:30-7:30pm – Yearlong Commitment

Beth of The Arcade DC leads the weekly Children’s Art Group. This is one of the kid’s favorite programs where they are able to unleash their creativity by painting, making masks and creating Andy Warhol inspired art. Volunteers engage the children, help maintain the peace and create their own art. For more information see the Art Group Volunteer Position Description.

DASH is looking for volunteers with expertise in communications and marketing to support web design, creating social media and email campaign content, and ads. For more information see the Communications Volunteer Position Description.
